Water Pollution Incidents

If we get test results that don't meet the water quality standards we have a process in place for notifying beach users. Find out more below.

The Bathing Water Quality Regulations 2008 set out our obligations for bathing water quality checks and public information during the bathing season. We take 10 samples in total; 1 before and 9 during the bathing season.   These samples are taken fortnightly from the end of May to the middle of September.

Bathing water quality on Fingal beaches is generally classified as Good or Excellent, and you can check water quality results for our beaches on the EPA website www.splash.epa.ie .

There are permanent bathing restriction at Rush South Beach and Loughshinny Beach for 2016. These restrictions are in place because Rush South and Loughshinny Beaches were classified as having poor water quality following the 2015 bathing season. Please refer to Splash for the most up to date water quality results.
