GAA Club Competition

Fingal County Council have created a competition for GAA Clubs based in Fingal. Each club has the opportunity to enter a competition to win €2,500. (One entry per club).

The competition calls for projects which the club can run which will:

  • reduce waste, energy and water use, improving management and efficiencies and
  • increase awareness of environmental issues in the club, locally, and help the local community to become more sustainable.


Does Your Project Qualify?

Suggestions for projects may include the following:

  1. Elimination of single-use plastics at training, games, camps, club shops, coffee shops, coffee docks etc.
  2. Re-usable cup campaign - beverages
  3. Setting up of a refill point for water bottles (visit
  4. Green Travel initiative – travel to club grounds
  5. Introduce a waste management system
  6. Introduce a returnable boots scheme
  7. Introduce a returnable hurl scheme
  8. Reducing Energy (especially lights on during Winter)
  9. Run an ‘Action Day’ including a’ take-home’ message – (e.g. stop food waste, bicycle-swap scheme, bicycle maintenance workshop, plastics, polyester clothing)
  10. Reduction of water use – sinks, urinals, pitch,
  11. Create a club slogan with a green theme that can be used in club communications.


How to Apply

Application forms can be filled on online or downloaded and printed/ scanned/ emailed or they can be posted.

The completed Application Forms should be submitted latest by 4.30pm Friday 11th Jan 2019by one of three ways:
