"Lodgers and Landladies: the forgotten world of life in 'digs', c. 1890-1920" – Dr Ruth McManus. Rush Library – Monday 30th September at 6.30pm This talk considers the lodging phenomenon in the city and county at the turn of the twentieth century, exploring the types of people who became lodgers, boarders and 'paying guests', and the popular perception of lodgers and landladies as reflected in contemporary literature and newspapers. Dr Ruth McManus is Associate Professor in Geography at Dublin City University's School of History and Geography.
