The Chief Executive of Fingal County Council in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section 10 of the Road Traffic Act, 2004 (No. 44 of 2004), having consulted with the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána and having obtained the consent of the Transport Infrastructure Ireland, hereby makes the following Order in respect of a Road Works Speed Limit for the northbound and southbound carriageway of the M1 Motorway between junction 5 and 7to facilitate resurfacing works.

 

1. This Order may be cited as the Road Works Speed Limit (No. 1) Order (resurfacing works to the northbound and southbound carriageway of the M1 Motorway between junction 5 and 7) 2018.

 

2.In this Order “distance” means distance measured along or from the centre line of a road or bridge.

 

3. This Order shall be in effect for the period 12th August 2018 to 20th October 2018.

 

4. Requirements under this Order do not apply to a driver of a fire brigade vehicle, an ambulance or the use by a member of the Garda Siochána of a vehicle in the performance of the duties of that member or a person driving or using a vehicle under the direction of a member of the Garda Siochána, where such use does not endanger the safety of road users.

 

5. Sixty/Eighty (60/80) kilometres per hour shall be the speed limit for all mechanically propelled vehicles on the road specified in the Schedule to this Order.

 

 

Schedule

 

It is proposed to introduce a speed limit of 80 km/h as follows:

 

  • Part of the northbound M1 between a point 1320 metres South of the existing R132 Overbridge (M1 Junction 5) to a point 820 metres South of the R132 Overbridge (M1 Junction 5) (Total 500m in length).

 

  • Part of the northbound M1 between a point 490 metres South of the existing R132 Overbridge (M1 Junction 7) to a point 10 metres North of the R132 Overbridge (M1 Junction 7)

(Total 500m in length).

 

  • Part of the southbound M1 between a point 510 metres North of the existing R132 Overbridge (M1 Junction 7) to a point 10 metres North of the R132 Overbridge (M1 Junction 7)

(Total 500m in length).

 

  • Part of the southbound M1 between a point 320 metres South of the existing R132 Overbridge (M1 Junction 5) to a point 820 metres South of the R132 Overbridge (M1 Junction 5) (Total 500m in length).

 

It is proposed to introduce a speed limit of 60 km/h as follows:

 

  • Part of the northbound M1 between a point 820 metres South of the existing R132 Overbridge (M1 Junction 5) to a point 10 metres North of the R132 Overbridge (M1 Junction 7)

(Total 9,500m in length).

 

  • Part of the northbound M1 diverge at Junction 5 from the start of the diverge taper to a point on the diverge ramp 90 metres south of the yield line of the diverge off-ramp at Junction 5

(Total 650m in length).

 

  • Part of the northbound M1 merge at Junction 5 from a point 100 metres north of the start of the merge on-ramp at R132 Overbridge (M1 Junction 5) to the end of the merge taper

(Total 680m in length).

 

  • Part of the northbound M1 diverge at Junction 6 from the start of the diverge taper to a point on the diverge ramp 180 metres south of the stop line of the diverge off-ramp at Junction 6

(Total 550m in length).

 

  • Part of the northbound M1 merge at Junction 6 from a point 80 metres north of the start of the merge on-ramp at R132 Overbridge (M1 Junction 6) to the end of the merge taper

(Total 650m in length).

 

  • Part of the northbound M1 diverge at Junction 7 from the start of the diverge taper to a point on the diverge ramp 150 metres south of the yield line of the diverge off-ramp at Junction 5

(Total 730m in length).

 

  • Part of the southbound M1 between a 10 metres North of the R132 Overbridge (M1 Junction 7) to a point 320 metres South of the existing R132 Overbridge (M1 Junction 5)

(Total 9,500m in length).

 

  • Part of the southbound M1 diverge at Junction 7 from the start of the diverge taper to a point on the diverge ramp 150 metres north of the yield line of the diverge off-ramp at Junction 7

(Total 390m in length).

 

  • Part of the southbound M1 merge at Junction 7 from a point 100 metres South of the start of the merge on-ramp at R132 Overbridge (M1 Junction 7) to the end of the merge taper

(Total 650m in length).

 

  • Part of the southbound M1 diverge at Junction 6 from the start of the diverge taper to a point on the diverge ramp 40 metres north of the stop line of the diverge off-ramp at Junction 6

(Total 610m in length).

 

  • Part of the southbound M1 merge at Junction 6 from a point 100 metres South of the start of the merge on-ramp at R132 Overbridge (M1 Junction 6) to the end of the merge taper

(Total 605m in length).

 

  • Part of the Southbound M1 diverge at Junction 5 from the start of the diverge taper to a point on the diverge ramp 90 metres North of the stop line of the diverge off-ramp at Junction 6
