Gender Pay Gap Report 2024 cover

Fingal County Council has today published its Gender Pay Gap Report, highlighting the percentage difference between what men and women are paid on average in the organisation, irrespective of roles or levels.

The 2024 report shows that the gender breakdown of Fingal County Council staff has remained unchanged at 53% female and 47% male. The Mean Gender Pay Gap shows that, on average, women are paid 0.80% more than males, while the Median Gender Pay Gap shows that the median rate of pay for females is 14.81% higher than the median rate of pay for males.

This is a change from 2023 when the Mean Gender Pay Gap was 1.65% in favour of men and the Median Gender Pay Gap was 9.31% in favour of women. In 2022 the Mean Gender Pay Gap was 4.58% in favour of men while the Media Gender Pay Gap was 1.98% in favour of men.

The Chief Executive of Fingal County Council, AnnMarie Farrelly, said: “Our 2024 Gender Pay Gap Report shows that for the first time since reporting began three years ago, the gap between the average salaries of male and female employee is now in favour of women while the median figure of pay for females is now 14.81% higher than male pay.  It indicates that Fingal County Council is a place where all employees have the same opportunities for recognition and career development and are treated fairly and equitably at work.

“Six of the 11 members of our Executive Management Team are female, and we are committed to addressing workplace barriers to equality and creating an open and inclusive workplace community. Many equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives and supports are already in place, and we will continue our work in this area.”

Employers with more than 250 employees in Ireland are required to publish their gender pay gap data before the end of 2024 and within six months of their reference date. Fingal County Council and all other local authorities in Ireland chose 30 June 2024 as the reference date.
