Borrow Box

BorrowBox offers Fingal Library members FREE access to an extensive range of adult and junior eBooks and eAudiobooks. Borrow or reserve up to five eBooks and five eAudiobooks at a time, and enjoy on-the-go, anytime, anywhere! Look for the No Queue (Borrow Now, Available Now, No Waiting) titles – they’re available now, so there’s no waiting.

BorrowBox is your digital newsstand offering a wide range of newspapers and magazines through the ePress tab. Browse local content, browse by genre or title, with BorrowBox ePress there are no waiting lists, so you can access newspapers and magazines any time you want. Download titles to read offline and enjoy on the go.

Freegal Music

Freegal Music is a new digital music service from Fingal Libraries.  We now offer FREE access to 15 million songs, including Sony Music's catalogue of legendary artists. Streaming is unlimited, and you can download up to five tracks per week – all ad-free. The world of music at your fingertips!

Kanopy

Kanopy is our free video streaming service.  It allows you to access tv series, documentaries, and films, so if you’re in the mood for a classic film or a thoughtful documentary, browse Kanopy and start streaming.

Kanopy also offers Kanopy Kids, which is a collection full of great children’s content.  While in the Kanopy Kids section, you'll only see content that's age-appropriate.  You can access it by clicking Kids in the top-right corner of the homepage. If you’re on the mobile app, tap More at the bottom of the screen then Go to Kanopy Kids

You’ll need to create an account the first time you use Kanopy and we’d advise you to do that on the website:  https://bit.ly/KanopyFingal.   

  • Enter your name, email address, and password. 
  • Confirm you’re over 18 years old. 
  • Select Sign up.
  • Alternatively, sign up with an existing Apple or Google account by selecting Sign Up with Apple or Sign Up with Google and following the instructions.
  • Confirm your email address.

As Kanopy accounts can only be created by adults, we advise that parents control access to content by setting parental controls to ensure children can't view content outside of Kanopy KidsTo set up parental controls, log in to your Kanopy account from a web or mobile browser then go to My Account and select Parental Controls.  Enter a four-digit PIN and select Turn On.  Parental controls can only be managed from a browser, though your PIN will be required to exit Kanopy Kids from any device.

Once you have a Kanopy account, access the website on your computer or the app on a tablet or streaming device.

On your browser: Simply follow the link https://bit.ly/KanopyFingal. We recommend using the latest version of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge.   An internet connection is required to watch films on Kanopy. 

On your mobile device: Download the Kanopy app from your app store (Google Play) (iTunes), (Kindle Fire) and sign in with your email address and password once registered. Kanopy is also available through the Libby app.

Libby offers Fingal Library members FREE access to over 3,000 digital magazines with up to three years of back issues. Navigation is easy with dedicated categories, or simply search for your favourite titles from Good Housekeeping and Hello! to New Scientist, The Economist and National Geographic. Enjoy full colour, interactive features, as well as limitless checkouts, so you can borrow as many titles as you like. Just click and go!

Universal Class

Universal Class offers FREE online e-learning to Fingal Library members. There over 500 courses available to help fulfil your lifelong pursuit of knowledge and educational goals, and a comprehensive catalogue from which to choose. Courses can be completed at your own pace and are facilitated by tutors who will oversee your learning and offer assessment and certification. Whatever your interest, you’re sure to find a course to suit!

Libby Artist Works

ArtistWorks (available through Libby) offers FREE music and vocal video-based classes to Fingal Library members. Rivalling a real-life learning experience, enjoy expert instruction through self-paced video lessons from world-renowned musicians and artists. Watch lessons, practice and submit your work for feedback.

Coding Ireland

Acquiring digital skills empowers children to become adept in an essential digital languages – skills that are becoming increasingly vital in today's tech-centric world. Digital skills not only cultivate creativity, but it also enhances learning by encouraging learners to understand through hands-on practice and experimentation.



Our FREE online Digital Skills Clubs, in collaboration with Coding Ireland, provide accessible resources for parents and children alike who are interested in diving into the digital world. Our digital skills clubs aim to provide comprehensive digital literacy programs in four key skills: coding, robotics, digital art & animation, and cyber security, helping foster a greater understanding of the digital world from a young age.

These clubs will extend beyond coding, introducing users to three new skills aiming to deliver a comprehensive digital literacy program: Robotics, Digital Art & Animation, and Cybersecurity

Lexia Core 5 & Lexia Power Up– Online Learning

Lexia Power up

Lexia is an online program designed to help improve reading skills – offered FREE to Fingal Library members. With Lexia, users get to practice and develop the skills that make a successful reader, including fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. The programs have been proven to accelerate progress and close the reading gap so that personalised learning can be achieved. They are also designed in a way which enables learners to use the program at school, in the library and at home.

There are two versions of Lexia available to our members:

Lexia Core 5 is suitable for use by primary school pupils, while the Lexia Power Up literacy program is suitable for secondary school students and adults.

LOTE4Kids – eBooks and Language Learning

LOTE4Kids  is an online database of digital picture books in World Languages that allows children to enjoy the magic of books in LOTE (Languages Other Than English) – all offered FREE to members of Fingal Libraries. Each book also comes with English translations to help develop multilingual reading and listening skills. Kids can also watch a selection of English-only books with Australian, US and UK accents.

LOTE4Kids has 1500+ digital picture books in 50+ languages,

with new books and languages released each month, so there’s always new content to enjoy!

Touch-type Read and Spell – Online Learning 

Touch Type Read and spell

TTRS is a multisensory online course available FREE to Fingal Library members that teaches touch-typing to help children and adults improve their reading and spelling skills. It is a highly accessible typing program whereby students learn to touch-type whilst simultaneously developing spelling, decoding, and sight-reading skills. TTRS provides step-by-step tuition with feedback and scores, so you can learn at your own pace. Suitable for home-schooling families and those with learning difficulties, dyslexia, dyspraxia, ASD, ADHD, working memory and processing weakness.

Transparent Language Online – Language Learning

Transparent Language Online offers Fingal Library members FREE access to a complete language-learning solution. With 110+ languages, an extensive English collection (boasting materials for speakers of more than 30 languages), and a flexible learning pathway from beginners to advanced, as well as listen, speak, read and write options, this truly is a comprehensive and modern language-learning experience.

Tumble Book

Tumble Book Library is a curated database of over 1,100 children’s e-books. Items are always available – with no wait list – and can be accessed simultaneously by any number of readers, making them the ideal choice for school classes or book clubs. Tumble Book Library is the perfect complement to building children’s literacy and technology skills, and it includes educational resources for teachers. Happy tumbling!

Tumble Math is the most comprehensive collection of maths picture books you will find anywhere.
