Aircraft Noise Competent Authority established
Fingal County Council has established the Aircraft Noise Competent Authority which is the new body responsible for ensuring that noise generated by aircraft activity at Dublin Airport is assessed in accordance with EU and Irish legislation
From September 1, all Sections of the Aircraft Noise (Dublin Airport) Regulation Act 2019 are now in force following the commencement of the Act by the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross, TD.
Fingal County Council Director of Service, Gilbert Power, has been appointed as Director of the Aircraft Noise Competent Authority. Engineering, technical and administrative support has also been put in place.
The Competent Authority is responsible for ensuring that noise generated by aircraft activity at Dublin Airport is assessed in accordance with EU and Irish legislation. It also ensures the application of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Balanced Approach to aircraft noise management where a noise problem or potential noise problem at the Airport is identified.
