Fingal Local Studies was set up to collect, preserve and make available for reference material relating to the history and heritage of the County.
Who uses us?
Our friendly and efficient service is available to anyone who is interested in local, social or family history. All researchers are welcome, professional or amateur, individual students, groups, classes etc. Queries are also welcome by phone, post or e-mail.
What do we have?
Our collection contains an extensive range of reference books relating to Fingal and Ireland. Other resources include directories, maps, estate papers, newspapers, photographs, postcards, online resources, state papers, census and church records.

Our local history journal Fingal Studies is edited by historian Joseph Byrne and is available for sale here and in all our branch libraries.
Our special collections include the Cloghran Stud Records, Cumann na mBan correspondence and memorabilia, Thomas Ashe collection, Fingal Sports collection and a selection of the Talbots of Malahide estate papers on CD.

Opening Hours
From Monday 20th October, researchers and other visitors to Fingal Local Studies and Archives, 46 North Street, Swords will need to make an appointment in advance.
While the reading room will be open as usual, it will be necessary to make an appointment in advance of your visit by telephoning 01-8704495/8704486 or emailing [email protected]
Mon - Fri: 10.00am to 1.00pm and 2.00pm to 5.00pm
