Bealtaine Festival 2021 Launched in Fingal Libraries
The Bealtaine Festival will take place online throughout the month of May featuring performances, exhibitions, discussions, workshops and readings by artists working in different art forms. There will be both Live and Recorded events. Among the Live events are Chair Yoga with Erica, Getting Hitched from Carnation Theatre, Creative Computing Classes in Skerries, Illustrated Lecture on the achievements of the Yeats Family by Dr Maebh O’Regan of NCAD, while the Recorded events will include Midwives of the Nation by Carnation Theatre, Storytelling Video by Niall De Burca with a special online story to celebrate Bealtaine Festival 2021, 2 Bilingual Knitting Classes by Cleas Teoranta and Wicklow Willow in a series of videos exploring the History, Tales and Traditions of mayday and Bealtaine for the first event followed by Foraging Trail for Materials for the second event and Traditional May Garland-making Workshop for the third event.
Over the years, research has shown that art programmes involving music, visual arts and drama have benefitted the quality of life of older people in terms of happiness, positive mental wellbeing, reduced stress, increased self-esteem and confidence.
