Hugely successful Let’s Play Rush Sports Day
Last weekend saw another successful Let’s Play Rush event, with many families gathered at Tayleur’s Point to take part in a fun filled day of sporting games and activities in an old school style Sports Day, building on the success of the event held last year at Tayleur’s Point.
Last weekend saw another successful Let’s Play Rush event, with many families gathered at Tayleur’s Point to take part in a fun filled day of sporting games and activities in an old school style Sports Day, building on the success of the event held last year at Tayleur’s Point.
The Let's Play Rush Project was developed as part of an URBACT Initiative under the Playful Paradigm Project. Let’s Play Rush continues to develop play opportunities and deliver playful projects for Rush with the Council working in partnership with local representatives, Rush Tidy Towns and other community groups including the 38th Rush Scout Group. The initiative allows people of all ages to connect with their local town and use the wonderful public spaces available to citizens and visitors in Rush such as Rush’s beaches and harbour, Rush Library, the Millbank Theatre, Kenure Woods, playground and green open spaces around the town.
Local families and children played with a variety of games provided by Let’s Play Rush and competed with each other in different races in the Community Sports Day.
The town celebrated its playfulness with people of all ages participating in youth and adult races, a tug of war, egg and spoon races and played with the games available such as Giant Jenga and Connect 4. There was strong attendance at this year’s event by local families, community groups and local representatives.
Cllr Brian Denehy, the Chair of Let’s Play Rush presented medals saying “The Sports Day was a great success, and I would like to thank Rush Tidy Towns, the 38th Scout Group Rush, members of the Let’s Play Rush Initiative and Fingal County Council who have made this a fun day for all. This initiative would not work without community participation and all the families who came along to support. “
Cllr Brian Dennehy, Chair of Rush ULG, said: “The Let’s Play Rush events have been warmly welcomed by the local community and I was delighted to see people of all ages benefiting from such an event.”
