​​​​​​​Fingal County Council and Draíocht Studio Residency Award 2024

Fingal County Council and Draíocht, Blanchardstown are pleased to announce the return of the Studio Residency award, offering a 4-month paid residency in Draíocht’s Artist Studio from September to December 2024.

Fingal County Council and Draíocht, Blanchardstown are pleased to announce the return of the Studio Residency award, offering a 4-month paid residency in Draíocht’s Artist Studio from September to December 2024.

Now in its second year, the award invites applications from Visual Artists from or based in Dublin 15/ Fingal. This Residency aims to provide the artist with dedicated time and space to advance their practice in a comfortable, practical and supportive environment.

The Residency includes:

  • Rent-free use of Draíocht’s Visual Artist’s Studio
  • A fee of €4000 for the 4-month period
  • An additional €1,000 for material costs

Artists are expected to make full-time use of the Space and applications from artists who are from under- represented communities are particularly welcome.

The Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Adrian Henchy commented that “Fingal County Council and Draíocht Studio Residency Award 2024 offers a Visual Artist the unique opportunity to create and innovate in the heart of Dublin 15.”

Chief Executive of Fingal County Council, AnnMarie Farrelly, added, “we are proud to continue our partnership with the Draíocht to provide a professional artist with the time and space to develop and expand their artistic practice.”

County Arts Officer, Sarah O’Neill said, “Fingal County Council is pleased to support the return of the Studio Residency Award in collaboration with Draíocht, an arts centre that is committed to serving its local community and influencing arts practice broadly. This award will offer the selected artist with an environment where they can thrive.”

Draiocht's firm commitment to local artist development through a range of Residency offers is known.   Working with Fingal Arts Office enables us increase these offers and amplifies not only our close relationship with the Arts Office, but our shared understanding of how important these opportunities are for individual practitioners.”

Justine McDonnell, recipient of the inaugural award in 2023, says of her time at Draiocht “As a local artist the residency facilitated crucial studio time and space for me to expand my practice and research.  Access to a professional working environment alongside the financial support was fundamental in experimenting with new materials where I created a new body of work and a live performance for future presentation.”
