Fingal Libraries prepares for Cruinniú na nÓg

Fingal Libraries is delighted to be taking part in Cruinniú na nÓg, the flagship initiative of Creative Ireland’s Youth Plan which aims to enable the potential of children and young people.

Ireland is the first and only country in the world to have a national day of free creativity for children and young people.

Fingal Cruinniú in the Castle will be a day-long event held in Swords Castle on Saturday, June 15, where there will be something for everyone. There will also be plenty of other events held in various libraries throughout Fingal on June 15.

At Cruinniú in the Castle, There will be Storytime, Circus performers, Lego workshops, art workshops, a magic show and a puppet show. There will be an Animal Roadshow that will be present all day which is sure to be a hit with animal lovers. It will provide an interactive mobile education programme showing a variety of exotic creatures in a safe and entertaining way .With close encounters and loads of handling opportunities, you can interact with lizards, snakes, owls, tortoises and many more.

The event will also host a showcase of creativity from children in the Dublin 15 area who worked with Creativity facilitators ‘Make Create Innovate’ over six weeks in Blanchardstown Library.  They will be displaying their creative projects on the theme of ‘Climate Change’. These will include musical instruments, mini-speakers, motion motors, wearable tech and stunning LED artwork.

  • Book of Kells Art Workshop with Ann McFadden - Howth Library 2:30pm-3:30pm
  • Young Engineers Lego Workshop – Rush Library 2:30pm-3:30pm
  • Academy of Code Coding Roadshow- Donabate Library 2pm-4:30pm
  • Bricks4Kidz Lego Workshop – Baldoyle Library 2:30pm-3:30pm
  • Flip Book Animation Workshop with Create School – Malahide Library 10am-12pm
  • Robotics Workshop with Tech Create – Balbriggan Library 10am-11:30am
  • Reuben the Entertainer – Blanchardstown Library 2:15pm-3:15pm
