Skerries South Strand

Skerries South Strand is a long sandy beach, 2km in length with a beautiful esplanade and coastal walkway

Skerries South Strand is a 2 minute walk from Skerries town. There are several pedestrian access points on the beach.

If travelling by Dublin Bus, take the 33 to Skerries town. The beach is a 2 minute walk from the bus stop.

If you take the train, it’s a 20 minute walk from the train station to the beach. Check Irish Rail for timetables and service updates.

Facilities include car parking along the South Strand, public toilets near the harbour which are open on a seasonal basis, and a lifeguard station operational during summer months only. Lifeguards are on duty from 11 am to 7 pm on Saturdays and Sundays in June and every day from July to August.

Skerries South Strand is an identified beach under the Bathing Water Quality Regulations 2008 (SI No. 79 of 2008). The water quality is monitored regularly from mid-June to mid-September every year.  Water quality results are available on the beach noticeboard and on the EPA website www.beaches.ie.
