Get ready to celebrate Fingal’s rich heritage during National Heritage Week 2024 from August 17th-25th. There are a wide range of events taking place in Fingal including walks, talks, tours, exhibitions and more. National Heritage Week, is a nine-day celebration of Ireland’s natural, built and cultural heritage and aims to promote awareness of our heritage, thereby encouraging its conservation and preservation.

A Heritage Council programme, National Heritage Week brings together communities, families, organisations, cultural institutions, academics and enthusiasts, this year’s theme ‘Connections, Routes & Networks’ explores the ways we are connected to each other, physically, culturally and socially.

Fingal Heritage Network Heritage Night 2024 Fingal County Council St Sylvester's Parish Hall, 1 Main Street, Malahide 21 August, 7pm - 10pm

The evening of intriguing talks will be preceded by the launch of the Fingal Heritage Network booklet 2024 which highlights the work of the historical societies and heritage groups across Fingal.

BLAS, Fingal’s Food Heritage

BLAS, Fingal’s Food Heritage project will explore, record and share traditions, attitudes, beliefs, and practices that surround how we produce and consume food and introduce different food traditions to new audiences.

As part of the project, we’re gathering food memories, photos, and recipes from the community to share on a digital map celebrating food heritage as part of our social history.

20 August, 11am - 2pm Celebrating harvest, milling, and bread in Fingal is an event for all the family brought to you for Heritage Week by Fingal Heritage Office and Skerries Mills. Join baker Lucy Forde to explore the journey from harvest to freshly baked bread, try your hand at traditional milling techniques, explore the process of bread making and taste the final product!
