Climate Action Hero's Challenge

Climate action hereos

Join Ireland’s only national community climate challenge! This challenge is an initiative of Global Action Plan and will take place from 15thApril to 26th April 2024. In 2023, twenty-one Fingal Community Groups competed and came out on top, with the Ukrainian Volunteers of Ireland, Castleknock Tidy Town, Myrtle The Coast Residents Association and the Prosper Group receiving the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Outstanding Achievement All Ireland Climate Hero Awards. Together our community groups saved a combined 14,744.12 total kgCOe.

The aim of the competition is to show how each person can use simple and effective measures to reduce their own climate footprint on a daily basis - both at home, in their free time and at work. Climate- friendly activities can include using a keep cup, taking public transport, airdrying clothes, buying second hand, taking shorter showers, eating locally produced food etc....

This competition is fun, free, and habit-forming and great to do as a collective group. So for 2024, Fingal County Council encourage all of our community groups such as sports club, men’s shed, tidy towns, residents group, or a group of friends etc .. to take up the challenge and start logging you climate friendly actions.
