Seo mar a labhair sé faoi:(This is what he says about it)
Is amhrán beag simplí é an t-amhrán ‘Bog braon don seanduine’. Tá na focail simplí agus tá an ceol simplí freisin. Ach ceapaimse go bhfuil sé go hálainn. Is suantraí é. Ciallaíonn ‘suantraí’ amhrán a úsáidimid chun leanbh beag a chur a chodladh. Ciallaíonn an focal ‘suan’ codladh. Os rud é gur suantraí é caithimid é a chanadh go deas ciúin. Cabhraíonn sin leis an leanbh titim ina chodladh. Ach cé hé an seanduine san amhrán seo? Bíonn an aghaidh atá ar leanbh cosúil leis an aghaidh atá ar sheanduine uaireanta, go speisialta nuair a bhíonn siad ina gcodladh. Is é an ‘seanduine’ atá i gceist san amhrán seo ná an leanbh beag mar sin!
(The song ‘Bog braon don seanduine’ is a simple little song. The lyrics are simple and the music is simple too. But I think it’s beautiful. It is a lullaby or a suantraí. ‘Suantrais’ means a song we use to put a small child to sleep. The word ‘suan’ means sleep. Since it is a lullaby we have to sing it pretty quietly. This helps the baby to fall asleep. But who is the old man in this song? The face of a baby is sometimes like the face of an old man, especially when they are asleep. The ‘old man’ in this song is the little baby like that!)
