Music Generation Fingal
As part of the Music Generation Fingal project, three free workshops will take place on Saturday June 10th for Cruinniú na nÓg in Burgundy House, Swords:
· Vocal Workshop ‘Finding your Voice’ with professional vocalist and musician educator Mary Flynn. This workshop will take participants through some of the fundamentals of vocal practice, with a fun practical session that will benefit anyone who has an interest in singing. Posture, warm up exercises, body percussion and different musical styles will all be explored. This workshop is aimed at 7–11-year-olds. No experience needed.
· Guitar Workshop - Learn about different guitar styles and genres. Have a go learning the basics, with plenty of weird and wonderful guitar pedals and technology along the way. Enjoy trying it out and experience performances from acclaimed guitarist, musician educator and composer Shane Latimer. This workshop is aimed at 12–15-year-olds with a maximum of 6 young people in a group. Duration 2 hours. No experience needed.
· Songwriting & Recording – This workshop will cover brainstorming lyrics, improvision over a loop and recording an idea. Participants will be facilitated by producer, composer and musician educator Matt Winston in this creative space, utilising the endless possibilities of recording technology. Duration 3 hours. No experience needed.
