Welcome to Fingal’s sixth annual Festival of History which will run from Monday 10th to Saturday 15th October 2022 across a number of Fingal branches, and Swords Castle. After two years of online talks and events we can finally welcome back live audiences. Our programme this year is a celebration of the abundance of historians who live within Fingal and who have researched numerous facets of Fingal life.
An exhibition ‘A Dangerous Man: Frank Lawless and the War of Independence in Fingal’ and film commission ‘Peace to the Ashes’ commemorating the life and legacy of Frank Lawless T.D. was launched by the Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Seána Ó Rodaigh at an event in County Hall Swords on 25th April 2022. The exhibition and video are currently on display at Malahide Library until 13th April 2022 with an additional smaller version of the exhibition on display at Howth Library. View online here
The women of Fingal have been captured in tapestry! As part of the Creative Ireland Programme Fingal County Council is delighted to launch the Women of Fingal Tapestry. The Tapestry, created by artist Agnieszka ‘Uisce’ Jakubczyk captures aspects of Fingal's women throughout the ages from finds uncovered on the Drumanagh excavations to revolutionary women and was launched in Rush Library by Mayor of Fingal Cllr Seána Ó Rodaigh.

The life and legacy of Frank Lawless will be commemorated by Fingal County Council as part of their Commemorations Programme with an exhibition and Commemorative film Peace to the Ashes.
As part of Fingal County Council's Commemorations programme 2018-2023, Fingal Libraries supported by Creative Ireland have produced an exhibition and video exploring the history of the Hill of Howth tram.
