Fingal County Council Bloom 2024 ‘Coming Home to Nature’ Show Garden
Bloom Garden Video 2024
Each year, Fingal County Council funds the design, planting, and construction of a show garden at Bloom. Last year saw the unveiling of "Breathing Space" by Fingal County Council at Bloom 2023. This year, the focus shifts to the theme of ‘Coming Home to Nature’.
The garden aims to illustrate how biodiversity can seamlessly integrate into our urban landscapes, whether through retrofitting existing spaces or incorporating it into future development plans. Alongside the garden, a comprehensive guidance document will be provided for developers, offering insights and strategies for incorporating biodiversity into their projects. See here for brochure
Nicola Haines from Tierney Haines Architects will be involved in bringing this vision to life, lending her expertise and creativity to the project. Her contribution promises to enrich the design and further emphasise the importance of harmonising with nature in our built environment. See Nicola plans here

Bird boxes and a message of appreciation
We would like to thank Lynda Huxley from Swift Conservation Ireland for her generous help in researching and planning the bird box (swift brick) element of this year's show garden.
Anyone who is inspired to take similar pro-biodiversity measures in their own home may wish to visit their website (swiftconservation.ie), which offers guidance and general information about swifts and how to support them and other birds that have experienced population declines in urban environments.
