Air quality monitoring
Air Quality Management
Air quality monitoring in Ireland is led by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the national Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Programme (AAMP).
Real-time and historic data from all monitoring stations across the country, including the stations in Fingal, is available at https://airquality.ie/.
In addition, the EPA operates an Air Quality Index for Health (AQIH). This index is a scale which from runs from 1 to 10 and tells you what the air quality currently is like at the station nearest you and whether or not this might affect your health.
A reading of one to three inclusive means that the air quality is good, and a reading of 10 means the air quality is very poor.
The latest AQIH for all monitoring station locations, including those in Fingal, is available at https://airquality.ie/.
The EPA have also launched Air Quality Forecast Maps. These maps use the Air Quality Index for Health data to predict the daily air quality for up to 3 days (today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow).
This is an important resource for everyone, but especially people who may be sensitive to poor air quality (e.g. those with asthma and heart conditions).
The Air Quality Forecast Maps can be found at https://airquality.ie/.
