When vacancies arise in Fingal County Council they are advertised in either the national or local newspapers and on our website www.fingal.ie .

The competitions for senior managerial and senior professional positions are held by the Public Appointments Service on the Council's behalf, details of which are found on www.publicjobs.ie

For some roles, candidates are required to complete a Word/PDF application form. Other roles are advertised using our online recruitment system. Candidates can pre-register for job alerts, apply for positions and track their applications throughout the recruitment process.

No, shortlisting may apply depending on the number of positions available and the number of applications received.

Shortlisting criteria will be drawn up based on the qualifications and job specification for the role. Therefore, the detail you provide on your application is critical as it is the only information that can be considered. Candidates most likely to meet the standard required will be called for interview.

A competency interview is structured in a way that allows the interview board to establish the extent to which each candidate demonstrates specific skills areas (competencies) during an interview.  All interviewees are advised of the competencies identified as being critical to success in the job.  Delivering Results, Performance Through People and Personal Effectiveness are examples of competencies.
