Applications for Community Environment Action Fund 2019 now open
The Community Environment Action Fund, previously known as the Local Agenda 21 Environmental Partnership Fund, is now seeking applications. Fingal County Council is seeking environmental project proposals from local schools or community, youth or residents groups by the application deadline of September 27th 2019.
Do you have a project or initiative that could help your community to be become more sustainable or increase awareness of environmental issues locally? If so, you may qualify for financial assistance from the Community Environment Action Fund. This Fund, previously known as the Local Agenda 21 (LA21) Environmental Partnership Fund, promotes sustainable development by assisting small scale, non-profit environmental projects at local level.
Projects should focus on environmental actions and awareness which complement national environmental policies such as those on climate change, biodiversity, water conservation and waste reduction. Please note that projects which have a meaningful climate or biodiversity focus will be prioritised under the 2019 Fund.
A wide variety of projects and schemes have been supported under the Fund in previous years, including community gardens and allotments, compost schemes, rainwater harvesting, biodiversity projects, waste reduction initiatives and educational initiatives. Lists of previously funded projects can be viewed at: http://dccae.gov.ie/en-ie/environment
When launching the 2019 fund Minister Richard Bruton said: “Local, community led initiatives are crucial to delivering the ambition set out in the Climate Action Plan. These projects offer people a tangible, practical way to do their part to tackle the climate challenge and feel more connected to their local community as a result.”
Applications for Fingal based projects should be made directly to Fingal County Council no later than 5pm, September 27th 2019.
