Celebrating International Women's Day 2024
Announcing its extensive lineup of events in honour of International Women's Day 2024 under the theme "Inspire Inclusion", Fingal County Council is proudly supporting a range of activities aimed at fostering a more inclusive world for women.
The Council’s Community Department leads the festivities with a remarkable collection of 33 events dedicated to commemorating International Women's Day. Among these is the flagship "Shine a Light for Women" event, now in its third consecutive year. Set to take place in Swords, this event promises to illuminate both the achievements and challenges faced by women in Fingal, showcasing their resilience and determination.
Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Adrian Henchy said: "We are delighted to celebrate the remarkable achievements and contributions of women in Fingal. Through these events and initiatives, we aim to inspire inclusion and empower women to thrive in all aspects of life."
In addition to the celebrations, Fingal announced the launch of its Women’s Coaching Leaders programme, “Raising the Voices of Fingal Women Pioneers”. Facilitated by Naomi Fein and Heather Mullin, this is part of the Council’s ongoing community initiative to recruit local residents throughout March to take up opportunities to develop leadership skills and learn about initiating positive change.
Chief Executive of Fingal County Council, AnnMarie Farrelly said: "This Women’s Coaching Leaders programme is an exciting addition to our community initiatives, empowering women to step into leadership roles and drive meaningful change within their communities. By providing resources and support, we are fostering a culture of inclusivity and empowerment."
The programme, running from April to July, will delve into the mythology of leadership, council influence dynamics, and community connections. Participants will engage in a fusion of coaching and creative activities, culminating in an immersive art installation at the final event.
