Contracts signed for Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme
Fingal Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) has signed contracts with Empower Local Development CLG to deliver the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP) for the period 2024-2028 following a competitive tender process.
Fingal Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) has signed contracts with Empower Local Development CLG to deliver the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP) for the period 2024-2028 following a competitive tender process.
SICAP is a social inclusion programme focussed on the most marginalised in Irish society. It aims to tackle poverty and social exclusion through community development approaches, local engagement, and partnership between disadvantaged individuals, community organisations and public sector agencies and operates across the Republic of Ireland. The SICAP programme is administered by Pobal, co-funded by the Irish Government, through the Department of Rural and Community Development, and the European Social Fund and managed at local level by the LCDC.
SICAP 2024 – 2028 will continue to build on the tremendous work delivered in Fingal under the previous SICAP programme, which operated between 2018 – 2023 and which was also delivered by Empower Local Development CLG.
Welcoming the signing, Mayor of Fingal, Councillor Adrian Henchy said, “The SICAP Programme is hugely important in tackling poverty and exclusion among the most vulnerable in our communities. I welcome the appointment of Empower Local Development CLG to deliver this major programme over the next five years”.
AnnMarie Farrelly, Chief Executive of Fingal County Council said “I’m delighted that Empower Local Development CLG will be implementing SICAP 2024-2028 for Fingal County Council, a hugely capable organisation with tremendous local knowledge and committed staff. Their capacity to deliver this ambitious programme is evident in their previous record of local service delivery".
Chairperson of the Fingal LCDC, Laurence Ward says “Fingal County Council enjoy an excellent working relationship with Empower Local Development CLG and I look forward to further collaboration between Fingal LCDC and Empower Local Development CLG over the lifetime of this programme”.
Cllr Kieran Dennison, Chairperson went on to describe how “Empower remain committed to meeting the needs of the most vulnerable people in Fingal and I have full confidence that we will continue to deliver high quality and innovative supports under SICAP”.
