Community and Voluntary Groups in Fingal are invited to apply for funding under the Local Enhancement Programme (LEP) 2024.

Community and Voluntary Groups in Fingal are invited to apply for funding under the Local Enhancement Programme (LEP) 2024. The Programme is designed to provide capital funding support to a wide and diverse range of local Groups, particularly those in disadvantaged areas. Funding is available to support small capital works/improvements, the purchase of equipment for community use i.e. tables and chairs, tools and signage, laptops and printers, lawnmowers, canopies and training equipment.

The Local Enhancement Programme 2024 is funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development with Fingal allocated a total of €220,842.98 in funding for Groups across the county. Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, and Minister of State with responsibility for Community Development and Charities, Joe O’Brien TD have launched the Programme in December 2023, announcing €6 million in national capital funding.

The LEP 2024 is administered by Local Community Development Committees (LCDCs) in each Local Authority area. And the funding aims to support local strategic priorities and link with the Council’s Local Economic Community Plan (LECP).

The Council’s allocation of €220,842.98 includes a separate provision of €36,807.17 to support Fingal’s Women’s Groups in recognition of the growing number of Women’s Sheds, and local groups which provide social networks for women.

Applications are now being sought from Community and Voluntary Groups in Fingal for grants up to a maximum of €10,000 for Capital Funding with a closing date for receipt of applications of Friday, 8th March 2024 at 5pm. 

Welcoming the LEP Capital Funding Programme for 2024, Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Adrian Henchy said: “The Local Enhancement Programme 2024 is a valuable capital financial support to Community Groups and Organisations throughout Fingal, particularly in disadvantaged areas which will help them carry out necessary repairs and improvements to their facilities.  Fingal County Council is pleased to offer this support to assist community groups and organisations to enable them deliver invaluable community facilities in their local areas and I would encourage all groups to apply without delay.”

Commenting on the Local Enhancement funding Programme, AnnMarie Farrelly, Chief Executive of Fingal County Council said: “There is substantial funding available under the LEP which compliments other funding available to groups from Fingal County Council. The work of the Community and Voluntary Groups is highly valued by Fingal County Council and the LEP will provide vital financial support to these groups to facilitate the valuable work they do within our communities. I would encourage all Community Groups to examine the LEP and avail of the opportunity to apply for funding if it is relevant to their activities.”
