Anna Hryniewicz, an abstract painter based in Fingal, was one of the successful recipients of the GSD Fine Art Print residency in 2021. Anna holds an MFA in Painting and Teaching Art from the University of Czestochowa, Poland and has received awards and residencies from Rua Red, Draiocht, Cill Rialaig and Hambly & Hambly. She also holds a Professional diploma in Piano Performance from the RIAM. She creates abstract art, working mainly with acrylic on canvas, collages and gestural drawings. Her work can be described as abstract landscapes, derived from childhood memories.

Speaking about the residency Anna commented, “I am one of the lucky people who got a Graphic Studio Residency Award. I must say it was a wonderful experience for me as a painter. I had a unique possibility to work on professional printmaking and translate my painterly ideas into graphics, especially carborundum and etching. It enriched my practice with a different type of work, which is more strategic and planned, especially when it comes to coloured prints.
