With Flavours of Fingal set to return on the weekend of July 2nd and 3rd, Fingal County Council is looking forward to once again welcoming visitors back to enjoy festivities at the historic Newbridge House and Demesne.
Along with the music, food and shopping that’s on offer at Flavours this year, the Fingal Village located in the walled garden behind Newbridge House will also be hosting face painters, a mobile Library, a Pop-up Gaeltacht and there will be giveaways for the kids. The Village will be open from 11am until 6pm each day.
Event-goers will also have the opportunity to enter into a draw to win amazing prizes including a paddleboard and bug hotels across the weekend.
Mayor of Fingal Cllr Howard Mahony commented: “The Fingal Village will be a great attraction for anyone heading to Flavours and is an opportunity for the community to find out more about their Council and what’s going on in Fingal and the work underway to make Fingal a great place to live, work, visit and do business.”
Commenting on the Fingal Village AnnMarie Farrelly Chief Executive of Fingal County Council said: “We are delighted to welcome people back to Flavours of Fingal this year after two year’s absence. I would encourage anyone attending to visit the Fingal Village where our staff who are showcasing the Council and what we do will be delighted to meet you.”
A popular feature of Ireland’s largest county show, the Fingal Village will this year include a carbon calculator and there will be free caddy bins to help people recycle food waste in their home. Alongside this, the Fingal Libraries team will be bringing their mobile library van and will have performers and face painters on both days of the event. Many other departments across the Council will have interactive activities for visitors to engage in, including a virtual reality tour of Balbriggan.
As part of its commitment to promoting the Irish language, there will also be a Pop-up Gaeltacht. It’s an opportunity for everyone to come along and relax in this area and chat with us as Gaeilge from 1pm to 4pm each day. On the Sunday there will also be Irish language storytelling for the little ones.
Coming after a two-year hiatus, Flavours of Fingal is a great day out for the whole family and a great way to start the summer holidays. A flagship event for the Council, Flavours is run in conjunction with the Fingal Farmers Group and the Fingal Harriers. An estimated 80,000 visitors are expected to make their way to the Donabate location for the event that brings together city and country in a celebration of food, family and fun.
