Fingal in focus at this year’s Annual Adventure Tourism Conference
Ireland’s Association for Adventure Tourism (IAAT) is gearing up to host their highly anticipated fifth annual conference which will this year focus on activities on offer across the Fingal region in County Dublin.
A host of domestic and international experts are set to join this year’s conference, with a line-up that includes newly appointed CEO of Tourism Ireland, Alice Mansergh, Tourism Northern Ireland CEO John McGrillen, the inimitable Economist & Broadcaster David McWilliams, President of the European Confederation for Outdoor Employers Jean-Yves Lapeyrere, and Gergana Nikolova of the Adventure Travel Trade Association. Alongside this, some of Ireland’s leading operators will be sharing their insights on innovations and trends within adventure tourism, particularly with all the challenges and changes the industry has experienced in recent years.
Taking place in Castleknock on the 21st and 22nd of November, the conference will kick off with delegates taking part in a range of thrilling local adventure, experiences like rafting, biking, hiking and a coastal cruise. Attendees will follow up that with an evening of networking with local tourism operators at the four-star Castleknock hotel.
Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Adrian Henchy said "We want to extend a warm welcome to adventure enthusiasts, industry leaders, tour operators, activity providers and agents to Fingal. From our stunning coastal spaces to lush green landscapes, Fingal offers an array of experiences that promise to delight visitors of all interests and ability levels."
IAAT Chair Shane Young expressed his excitement about this conference, saying:
“In this our fifth annual conference, it’s a real thrill to bring the event to Dublin, and specifically Fingal, which has an underestimated wealth of adventure activities. We are grateful to Fingal County Council for supporting this important annual event at such a vital time in the recovery of tourism. We look forward to two days of insights, inspiration and getting the adrenaline going through some of the exciting activities available!”
The central theme of this year’s conference is ‘A Force of Nature’, reflecting the sector’s deep pride in the Irish landscape, their role in protecting it, and a determination to realise Ireland’s potential of becoming a world leader in adventure tourism.
