Fingal Interim Chief Executive signs Declaration on Public Service Innovation in Ireland

Fingal County Council has signed the Declaration on Public Service Innovation in Ireland which sets out a number of actions to foster a culture of innovation across the local authority.

The charter sets out six key areas to better serve our stakeholders in order to meet the most pressing challenges and to drive economic growth.

The declaration is a key component of the Our Public Service 2020 strategy which is designed to support the development of our public servants and our public service organisations.

The six key areas of the declaration are:

  • Further, endorse innovation as the responsibility of every public servant;
  • Enable, support, inform and equip our public servants to innovate in their roles;
  • Cultivate new partnerships and involve diverse views in problem-solving and designing and delivering our public services;
  • Generate multiple options for existing and potential problems through exploration, experimentation, iteration and testing;
  • Provide insights into our experiences, best practices and lessons learned with other public servants in Ireland and abroad;
  • Share knowledge and data with citizens in an open and transparent way.

After signing the document Fingal Interim Chief Executive, AnnMarie Farrelly, said, ‘I am delighted to sign this declaration which seeks to encourage innovation in our public service. Here at Fingal County Council, we are always looking to improve the services we provide and promote a culture of invention and collaboration which is vital in delivering these services.’
