The event, a major highlight of Women in Sport Week 2025, brought together over 300 teenage girls from ten secondary and community schools across Fingal.

Fingal Sports Office proudly hosted the Exercise: Energise HerMoves Multi-Sports and Activity Day at the National Indoor Arena, Abbottstown, on March 5th. The event, a major highlight of Women in Sport Week 2025, brought together over 300 teenage girls from ten secondary and community schools across Fingal. All participants are enrolled in Fingal Sports Office’s long-running Exercise: Energise Programme, which has been empowering inactive girls to embrace sports and physical activity for over 13 years.
The day featured an exciting array of activities, with Table Tennis, Volleyball, Pitch & Putt, and Rowing making their debut. In total, twelve National Governing Bodies provided expert coaching and “come-and-try” sessions in sports such as Rugby, Cricket, Hockey, Football, Tennis, Basketball, and Athletics.
Mayor of Fingal, Councillor Brian Mc Donagh, was on hand to meet the enthusiastic participants, highlighting the significance of the event he said ‘I am delighted to see hundreds of teenagers taking part with such enthusiasm in the wide range of sports and activities here today. This is one of the many events supported by our Sports Section which help increase participation and sport development of females in the Fingal area.’
Speaking about the initiative, Fingal Sports Development Officer, Caitríona Geraghty said ‘This initiative and the fantastic event we had today emphasises Fingal’s commitment to creating opportunities for young women to engage in sports, fostering both physical and mental well-being.’
