Fingal wants everyone to have a safe and spooktacular Halloween

Safer Halloween

With Halloween just around the corner, Fingal County Council is brewing up a cauldron full of exciting events to ensure that this year’s celebrations will bring everyone a ghostly good time.

As part of its Safer Halloween initiative, the Council is keen to ensure that as well as offering up a bewitching array of events to entertain residents of all ages, that people plan ahead, stay alert and be safe when out amongst the zombies, ghouls and witches taking to Fingal’s streets this October. With the support of our esteemed partners, HSE Ireland, An Garda Síochána, and Dublin Fire Brigade, we've conjured up thrilling experiences and vital safety knowledge to ensure this Halloween is a howling success.

This year there over 30 spine-tingling community-based events happening throughout the County in the lead-up to October 31st to help everyone have a wickedly good time. From magical shows to fancy-dress discos and pumpkin carving, we've got something for all fiendish tastes.

Local libraries across Fingal are also getting into the Halloween spirit with spooky arts and crafts sessions and storytelling of seasonal tales. Don't miss out – reserve your spot in advance by contacting the library hosting the event. Find out more here: https://www.fingal.ie/libraries-events.

Meanwhile our busy Events team is once again conjuring up the highly enjoyable Festival of Fire for Tuesday, October 31. That will see us light up the night skies in four key locations - Swords, Blanchardstown, Balbriggan, and Malahide. Be prepared to dance the night away at our Spooky Disco or enjoy a scary concert, followed by a mesmerising firework display at 7:30 pm.

As always, don't forget to wear your best Halloween costume and bring along a torch to light up the night! It's going to be an enchanting evening of spooky fun and dazzling fireworks. All events and some helpful safety tips can be found on: https://www.fingal.ie/safer-halloween.

The Council wants to remind residents that bonfires and burning of waste is prohibited and illegal. Fingal County Council spends up to €150,000 each year to clean up & repair damage caused by bonfire and urges members of the public to report incidences of material being collected through the council’s Customer Care team on 01 890 5000 or alternatively by emailing:

Lighting bonfires is strictly off-limits and absolutely forbidden! If you spot any suspicious bonfire material gathering, don't hesitate to report it to our trusty Customer Care team.
Don't forget your beloved pets! Keep them safe indoors during the Halloween hullabaloo - fireworks can be as scary as a ghost for our four-legged pals.

The annual Halloween Amnesty will once again be taking place. Household combustible materials (beds, sofas, wooden doors etc.) will be accepted free of charge at Fingal County Council's Recycling Centres; Estuary, Swords and Coolmine for residents of Fingal (will require proof of address) from Monday, 16 October to Saturday, 28 October.

For opening times and further information visit: https://www.fingal.ie/recycling-centres

To ensure that your Halloween is nothing but a howling success, Fingal County Council has cooked up an information leaflet. Find it on our social media channels and at https://www.fingal.ie/safer-halloween. It's a must-read spellbook for a spook-proof celebration!

We encourage all residents to revel in the festivities while keeping safety in mind. Say no to using bonfires as a dumping ground for waste - most household items can be as toxic as a ghastly potion! Please celebrate responsibly, and together, we'll keep the Halloween spirit alive.
