New councillor co-opted for Fine Gael in Fingal

Fingal has welcomed Cllr Steve O'Reilly as its newest member, after he was co-opted onto the council as a Fine Gael councillor.

Cllr Steve O'Reilly

Having been proposed by colleague Cllr Dennison, and seconded by Cllr Leddy, Cllr O'Reilly will represent the Blanchardstown – Mulhuddart Local Electoral Area. He comes onto the council following the resignation of Punam Rane who had been elected in 2019. The Mayor Fingal, Cllr Adrian Henchy, thanked Ms Rane for her invaluable contributions to the council over the last five years and for her efforts representing the Dublin 15 community in that time.

Cllr O'Reilly has lived in the Blanchardstown and Mulhuddart area for over 11 years. Addressing members at his first council meeting, Cllr O'Reilly said he was looking forward to representing the interests of people in Dublin 15 and was keen to progress initiatives that would improve local amenities and further develop the infrastructure needed to support one of the countries fastest growing areas.

Alongside this, Cllr O’Reilly would like to focus his attention on the delivery of more affordable and social housing, greater access to mental health services and tackling anti-social behaviour.

As well as being an active Blanchardstown – Mulhuddart Councillor, he will also take up roles on: the Planning Strategic Transport & Infrastructure Strategic Policy Committee; the Fingal Biodiversity Forum; the Base Enterprise Centre; the Hansfield Strategic Development Zone Steering Group; and the Sports Partnership.
