New Green Party councillor co-opted in Fingal

Cllr Michelle Griffin will represent the Ongar area of Fingal

Fingal County Council has welcomed its newest member, with Cllr Michelle Griffin co-opted onto the local authority as a Green Party councillor.

Cllr Griffin was proposed by Green Party colleague Cllr Pamela Conroy and seconded by Cllr David Healy. Representing the Ongar Local Electoral Area, she fills the seat left vacant by the resignation of Daniel Whooley.

Daniel Whooley had been elected in 2019 and served as Deputy Mayor of Fingal in 2021-22.

Residing in Ongar, Cllr Griffin works as a tutor for the Dublin and Dún Laoghaire Education & Training Board (DDLETB), delivering classes and workshops within Dublin 15.

Welcoming the opportunity to represent the people of Ongar, Cllr Griffin said that she wanted to work together with local people, voluntary groups, communities and other stakeholders to help deliver greater social equity and liveability.

As well as representing the Dublin 15 area, she will now serve on the Housing Strategic Policy Committee; the Joint Policing Committee; the Hansfield Strategic Development Zone Steering Group; Comhairle Na nÓg; and as a Member of the Blanchardstown Local Drug & Alcohol Task Force.
