Housing Information Presentation from Event March 2024

Fingal County Council are partnering with house builders throughout Fingal to bring over 400 new private homes at affordable prices onto the market in 11 communities across the county. As we continue to build new homes, Fingal County Council will be delivering a range of private properties for sale starting from €299,000.

Fingal County Council has announced that it will be hosting a housing information event to provide residents with insights about private affordable housing, vacant homes grants and local authority home loans. This will be the fourth such briefing session that the Council has run. It is scheduled to take place from 5 pm - 8 pm on Thursday, 7 March at the Donabate Golf Club.

Depending on people's circumstances Fingal County Council may be able to take up to 40% equity in the homes. These new homes include 2, 3, and 4-bedroom options and will be available for sale at affordable prices across the county.

The Council wants to empower residents to take the first step towards securing their homes by offering comprehensive information and support. The seminar-style event, with information sessions starting every hour, is open to all members of the public and caters to those seeking to purchase a new home, renovate an existing one, or explore available housing schemes and grants

In addition to providing comprehensive information on available housing options, the event will also unveil details about upcoming housing projects where Fingal County Council is partnering with established developers to offer homes for private sales at affordable prices and in particular the Balmaston scheme with Glenveagh in Donabate which is one of the largest residential housing developments now underway in the country. This session is intended to better prepare interested residents, providing them with the knowledge and insight needed for the forthcoming affordable housing schemes opening to the public.

Details of these homes and how to apply for them can be found at https://www.fingal.ie/AffordableHousing and on the websites of our partners.

Fingal County Council is committed to providing sustainable and inclusive housing solutions for its residents. Through informative events and ongoing community engagement, the Council strives to empower individuals and families on their journey to secure affordable and suitable housing.

Fingal County Council also provide the Vacant Homes Refurbishment Grant scheme. The scheme benefits those who wish to refurbish a vacant and/or derelict property into their principal private residence or to provide it for rent on the private rental market. Grants of up to €50,000 (vacant property) and €70,000 (derelict property) are available. The Vacant Homes Team will be present on the night to provide information on this and other schemes.

The Local Authority Home Loan (LAHL) is a Government backed mortgage for first time buyers and fresh start applicants. It can be used to purchase a new or second-hand property or for self-build. The Home Loans Team will be available on the night to provide additional information on the loan and the application process.

Attendees will have the opportunity to join seminars, each offering valuable insights into the housing schemes and grants provided by the Council. This interactive setting allows residents to ask any questions they may have, ensuring they leave with a clear understanding of the available opportunities. Interested residents are encouraged to register in advance by filling in the online form here.
