Prior warning notices for Fingal beaches are in place
Heavy rainfall means water users should take note of warnings now in place
Due to the forecasted heavy rainfall (yellow warning) and potential for deterioration in water quality, prior warning notices have been issued for beaches along the Fingal coastline. This comes following consultation with the HSE.
The warnings for the beaches are expected to be in effect for 72 hours from today (September 3) and include the following locations:
- South Strand, Skerries
- Loughshinny
- Rush North
- Rush South
- Balcarrick, Donabate
- The Brook, Portrane
- Velvet Strand, Portmarnock
- Burrow, Sutton
- Claremont
- Malahide
A prohibition notice is already in place at Front Strand, Balbriggan.
During this time, people should avoid splashing or swallowing water while at these beaches, avoid swimming if you have a wound, and should wash hands before handling food.
After a heavy rainfall event like the one currently underway, it is important that water users look to avoid contact with the water for at least 48 hours to prevent the risk of getting a recreational water illness.
