Sports Festival to celebrate the 2024 Olympics set for Malahide

On the back of Team Ireland's triumphant performance at the 2024 Olympics, Fingal’s highly anticipated Sports Festival in Malahide is set to take place this Saturday (24th of August). 

Run by Fingal’s dynamic Sports Office, this free-to-attend event is held at the beautiful Malahide Castle & Gardens. The action-packed event will kick off at midday and encourages everyone to get active and help celebrate the glory of our Olympians. A number of athletes from Fingal were participating in Paris for the Summer games. 

No matter your fitness level, the festival is supported by national and local sports organisations, including Orienteering Ireland, Golf Ireland, Irish Sailing, Weightlifting Ireland, Cricket Leinster, Olympic Handball Ireland, and Table Tennis Ireland. They will host interactive “come and try” sessions. 

Attendees can also participate in demonstrations and activities with Swim Ireland, TU Dublin Sport, Special Olympics Ireland, Cycling Ireland, Rowing Ireland, Diving Ireland, Hockey Ireland, Basketball Ireland, Pentathlon Ireland, Pitch and Putt, FAI, Tennis Ireland, Leinster Rugby, Dublin GAA, and Volleyball Ireland. With such a wide array of sports represented, the festival promises a comprehensive sporting experience for enthusiasts of all ages.

Fingal's Sports Festival goes beyond celebrating athletic achievement by offering a range of family-friendly activities designed to engage and entertain attendees of all ages. Highlights include FUNdamentals Activities, Tug of War Fun, Relay Obstacle Courses, and a dedicated Toddler Play Area for the youngest participants. The Inflatable Targets and Games will add to the festive atmosphere, ensuring that there’s something for everyone.

After an intense workout guests will have an opportunity to relax and refresh at a dedicated Picnic Area. Fingal Sports Office will be present throughout the day so that visitors can learn and join local initiatives promoting active, healthy lifestyles in their area.

We are very proud of the glorious seven athletes from Fingal that competed for Team Ireland. The many sports and activities going ahead on the day of the festival may provide inspiration to step into the shoes of Ireland’s Olympians’.
