Recipient of Graduate Award Opportunity 2018 in partnership with BLOCK T

Michele Hetherington was the recipient of the Graduate Award 2018.

As part of an ongoing commitment to emerging artists, Fingal County Council's Arts Office offers a one-year Graduate Studio Award in BLOCK T with a solo exhibition in 2019. The exhibition was part of FUEL, BLOCK T’s Visual Arts Programme dedicated to the support and professional development of recent graduates. The Graduate Award, which commenced in November 2018, will provided an ideal environment for Michele to develop her practice and an opportunity to network with other artists. In addition, she had access to BLOCK T’s Skillsets workshops and courses. Michele Hetherington is a recent MFA Graduate of NCAD.

On hearing of her award Hetherington commented "The Fingal Arts Graduate Award is exceptionally invaluable for any emerging artist. It is essential for a practice to have both space and time in order to expand and strengthen. This award offers both components in abundance. In addition, the differences and intersections of the practices within the BLOCK T studios itself make for an interesting and dynamic work space."

Michele hopes to take this opportunity, to further explore her deepening interest in the correlations between Art and Philosophy. Exploring the phenomena of time, place and the self. The award will allow her the time and space to develop her practice.
