Shore to Sea Campaign- The Sea Starts Here!
Fingal County Council is launching an exciting new litter awareness campaign Shore to Sea. This aims to work with local community groups to highlight awareness around the detrimental impacts litter and pollutants can have on our precious marine life when placed in gullies.
A common source of litter placed in gullies are cigarette butts. Did you know that cigarette buts are not compostable, but in fact made of plastic? It can take up to ten years for butts to break down and they can leak toxic chemicals. Many of our gullies in Fingal are linked to the sea, so it is vital that people are aware to dispose of cigarette butts and other forms of litter in the correct bins.
Remember the sea starts here! Protect our marine life and dispose of litter correctly. Let’s keep our waters clean, starting with our gullies!
