Waste Recovery Levy

A Waste Recovery Levy of €10 per tonne was introduced on 1st September 2023, to encourage higher value waste management practices by moving material management up the waste hierarchy from waste recovery to more recycling and re-use and to encourage greater efforts to segregate waste at source.

The Circular Economy (Waste Recovery Levy) Regulations 2024 require the Local Authorities to publish an annual report on the actions of the local authority for the purpose of the Regulations, in the preceding calendar year.
