Irish Road Safety Week - Resources for Teachers
This Irish Road Safety Week, 04 to 10 October 2021, is a great time for teachers to talk about road safety in the classroom. We've brought together resources from the Road Safety Authority (RSA) that you can use to create lesson plans whatever age your students may be.
Hi-Glo Silver
The Seatbelt Sheriff’s trusty companion Hi-Glo Silver is back with a very important safety message for all 2nd Class pupils: wear hi-vis clothes when out playing, walking or cycling.

StreetSmart Kids
StreetSmart aims to bring issues of road safety to life for young school children. The programme is designed for three distinct age groups: 4-5, 5-8 and 8-12 years. This action packed, fun filled day enhances the student’s knowledge of the rules of the road.
StreetSmart involves a streetscape mat which invites children to carry out typical, everyday cycling or pedestrian tasks. They can dress up and adopt various roles such as a nurse, doctor, fire officer or ambulance driver. RSA representatives will be on hand to coordinate the activities with the help of teachers at the school.

Cycle Safety Booklet
If kids at your school are travelling by bike, use this opportunity to teach them how to travel safely on the road. The RSA Cycle Safety booklet is packed with tips and information for budding cyclists. Learn about the bike, the rules of the road for cyclists and how to use cycle lanes properly.
