European Mobility Week takes place from 16 to 22 September 2023 with a host of exciting events taking place across Ireland that will celebrate car-free journeys, access for all and active travel! Check out Fingal events below.

Blanchardstown Village Tidy Towns Present ‘Tolka Valley Wander and Talk’

Free guided walks to explore this local hidden gem!

First walk at 2pm- Family, mobility and dog friendly. Walk around Waterville Lake, see the plants and nature here. Approx 1.5kms. A botanist will accompany the walk, to discuss the plant life and biodiversity in the park.

Second Walk at 3.15pm- Some uneven terrain, not accessibility friendly. Follows an unspolit route along Tolka river, passing waterfalls. A botanist will discuss the plant life and biodiversity in the park.

Cycling without age St catherines training session

Cycling Without Age Pilot Training Session - St. Catherine's Park

The Cycling Without Age Initiative is active in Skerries, St Catherine's Park and Santry and coming very soon to Baldoyle. We're looking for Volunteer Pilots to help bring service users on a leisurely cycle around your preferred area. We're specifically looking for people who might have more availability midweek during the day, but whatever time you can give would be greatly appreciated 

We will be holding our next Pilot Training Session in St Catherine's Park, Lucan - Monday 18th September - 4pm - 6pm 

Here we will go through the basic operations of the Trishaw and give you a chance to experience cycling this wonderful mobility aid.

We are hosting an online information meeting for anyone interested in setting up a Walking or Cycling Bus for your school. Sign up now to let us know you'd like to learn more about options for your school.

Bike Disco 2022

Bike Disco

Join us on Friday 22nd September for a bike disco to celebrate both Car Free Day and Culture Night!

This free 5km cycle is open to all ages, abilities & bike types! The route will be completely car-free so is a great opportunity for anyone with a bike to take part.

Participants are encouraged to light up and decorate their bikes, helmets and outfits to make the event as colourful as possible!

ReCreate will be hosting a bike decoration station from 7pm with free bike decorations packs including festival flags and string lights available on the night for the first 150 participants.

The cycle starts at 8pm and leaves from the Phoenix Roundabout at Chesterfield Avenue.

This event is organised by Fingal County Council, the OPW, Dublin Cycling Campaign and Dublin City Council.

Falling within EU Mobility Week this year, Make Way Day is back for 2023. This is a special day to recognise the difficulty often encountered by people with disabilities and an opportunity to make way on our streets for people with disabilities.

School Streets Day event in Rush for World Car Free Day

School Street Day on Channel Road in Rush for pupils of Rush National School. Children will enjoy extra space to play games like hopscotch, skipping, bowling etc. Event will run from 9:30am to 2pm. Games will be provided by environmental sustainability organisation Recreate, and use upcycled materials.

During this time Channel Road will be closed from its junction with Mill Bank to its junction with the Sandy Road / Golf Road. Diversions will be place and those travelling in the local area are advised to allow additional time for their journey.
