Fingal County Council has issued a Prior Warning Notice for Velvet Strand, Portmarnock and Loughshinny Beach which remains valid for a six-day period.

The Prior Warning Notice issued on Thursday August 20th has been removed from Velvet Strand Portmarnock following a result of Excellent water quality.

Fingal County Council is urging members of the public to stay away from the old public toilets and anchor foundation stone in Portrane and to avoid the dunes on Burrow Beach following further coastal erosion in the area this week due to Storm Ellen.

Please note that severe storm events and high tides yesterday have made lifeguards huts unsafe at Malahide, Donabate, Portrane and Rush North beach.There will be no lifeguards on duty at these beaches until further notice.

Following a return to “excellent” status at Loughshinny Beach in the results of laboratory analysis the issued Prohibition (Do not swim) notice has been removed from the noticeboard today.

Fingal County Council Heritage Office is embracing the new format for Heritage Week 2020 showcasing the County’s heritage with a fantastic online programme.
