Huge congratulations to the fantastic volunteers who ensured that 2024 was another hugely successful year for Fingal in the National Tidy Towns Awards.
Huge congratulations to the fantastic volunteers who ensured that 2024 was another hugely successful year for Fingal in the National Tidy Towns Awards. This year Ballincollig Cork was named the National Winner from the 904 towns competing for the prestigious awards demonstrating the huge interest in the Supervalu TidyTowns Competition which has been running since 1958.
The dedication and hard work of the Tidy Towns groups across Fingal was rewarded with great gains in points and medal wins. Skerries were awarded County Second and a Gold Medal, while Malahide were awarded County Third and a Gold Medal. Swords were also awarded a Gold Medal with Balbriggan achieving a Bronze and Clonsilla getting an Endeavour award.
There were a number of special award winners with Rush winning the National award in the EPA Circular Economy category, where Swords were highly commended. Balbriggan were regional award winners in the Young Persons in TidyTowns and were highly commended in the Pollinator Award.
It was also great to see Balscaddan and Oldtown returning to the competition this year.
Mary T Daly Director of Services said: ‘I am delighted to see the excellent marks achieved by the Fingal Tidy Towns groups and the special and county awards and medals won in another hugely successful year. The work carried out by the Tidy Towns is invaluable and Fingal’s Operations Department look forward to continuing to work with and support all the volunteers. Their work has a hugely positive effect in their communities as well as contributing to sustainable development in Fingal.”
