Dublin Agglomeration Noise Action Plan 2024 - 2028
The Noise Action Plan is critical to ensuring we achieve the aims and objectives of the Environmental Noise Directive, compliance with national policy and to address local environmental noise issues.
Under the EU Environmental Noise Directive, which was transposed into Irish law through the European Communities (Environmental Noise) Regulations 2018 (as amended), Strategic Noise Maps and Noise Action Plans are required to be made or revised every five years.
The Dublin Agglomeration Noise Action Plan 2024 - 2028 has been prepared jointly by the local authorities of the Dublin Agglomeration (Dublin City Council, Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, Fingal County Council, South Dublin County Council, Wicklow County Council and Kildare County Council).
The plan has been informed by and is based on the Strategic Noise Maps which were prepared for the agglomeration of Dublin in 2022 and which cover transport (road and rail) and industry related environmental noise sources.
Following a period of public and stakeholder consultation in April and May 2024, the Noise Action Plan was finalised by the 18th July 2024, in-line with statutory requirements, and has now been published on the websites of the Dublin Agglomeration local authorities.
