This European Mobility Week, The Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Brian McDonagh took possession of an eCargo bike for his term in office. This innovative initiative is part of Fingal County Council's commitment to promoting Active Travel, sustainable transportation and reducing carbon emissions.

By using an eCargo bike for official duties, the Mayor will be demonstrating the Council's leadership in environmental sustainability, while setting a positive example for the community. The eCargo bike will be used for a variety of purposes, including attending Council meetings, events, and conducting other official business.

Mayor of Fingal Brian McDonagh commented that he was “proud to be embracing a greener future. Using an eCargo bike to reduce my carbon footprint and promote sustainable transportation will set a good example and show the Councils commitment to Climate Action and Active Travel initiatives.”

This initiative aligns with Fingal County Council's broader efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and promote the use of electric vehicles. By using an eCargo bike, the Mayor will be contributing to a cleaner and healthier environment.

David Storey, Director of Environment, Climate Action, Active Travel and Sport at Fingal County Council said, “We’re delighted to see our Mayor and other Councillors embracing Active Travel and are keen to continue to highlight the efficiency and capabilities of cargo bikes as we work towards a greener, more sustainable Fingal”.

The wider adoption of eCargo bikes will play a significant part towards providing a more sustainable future for Fingal County.
