The festival will bring safe, outdoor, in-person events to beautiful locations in and around Skerries. Skerries Mills Courtyard will come to life and play host to many events such as Poetry Slams and Poetry Readings. This will be accompanied by music and a concert by well-known local band Shadows and Lights.

The Mayor, Cllr. Ó Rodaigh said: “It was an honour to light up Floraville yesterday. As a member of the organising committee, I know how much work and effort has gone into this festival and I can’t wait for the public to get to enjoy it. Making poetry accessible to all is at the heart of Fingal Poetry Festival and I am excited to see Skerries host such an inclusive programme of events. Bainigí taitneamh as!”

Fingal County Council's Economic Enterprise Tourism and Cultural Development, Emer OGorman, said: “Fingal County Council is delighted to offer financial support, through our festival grants scheme, to the annual Skerries Poetry Festival,  as we have done since its inception. We very much value our arts staff working closely with the highly skilled voluntary committee, who give their time generously, to bring this important and unique cultural event, to the people of Skerries and its environs.”

The Chair of the Organising Committee, Ernestine Woelger said: “We are excited to bring so many amazing events to Skerries. We are aiming to bring poetry into the community and create a festival atmosphere in every corner of the lovely seaside town. We are grateful to the Fingal Arts Office as their funding has been crucial in helping us organise the festival.”

While the Fingal Poetry Festival will not be officially launched until September 16, poetry will start to become present in the town ahead of that date. The light show at Floraville is just the start. Keep an eye out for poems and Ravens in windows around Skerries.
