Please be advised that a Prior Warning Notice has been issued for 5 days for Velvet Strand Portmarnock. Bathers are advised of the possibility of an increase in the levels of bacteria in the bathing water due to the forecast of heavy rainfall.
Met Éireann issued a yellow rainfall warning for Dublin yesterday (Thursday 17/08/23) at 15:09 for the following period 5pm Friday 18/08/2023 to 6am Saturday 19/08/2023.
There is the potential risk of deterioration of bathing water quality in such events. As per our Bathing Water Protocol, the HSE were consulted following this Alert regarding the issue of a Prior Warning for Velvet Strand, Portmarnock.
This has been agreed and a notice has been prepared for this beach (see attached).
A re-sample of the bathing water at this beach has been arranged and details are on the notice.
