Sustainable City Exhibition in 5 Fingal libraries this Summer
Come and view the inspiring Sustainable City model at Fingal Libraries this Summer.
Come and view the inspiring Sustainable City model at Fingal Libraries this Summer. The City of the Future created by young children at Scoil Mhuire Junior, Blakestown, Dublin 15, who were mentored by Transition Year students at Blakestown Community School.
It’s powered by wind and solar energy, and contains local schools, a local hospital, sustainable transport, a recycling centre, lots of trees, clothes drying outdoors, water and wastewater treatment plants, a local farmers market for organic food and a playground. The city promotes a sustainable healthy environment and emission-free living. In the context of Climate Change, people of all ages will enjoy this inspiring depiction of cities in the future.
Thanks to Marie Burke, the class teacher that stewarded all the learning for her second class and involved all T.Y. students, she initiated the project, did all the hard work and facilitated all the learning.
