Swords Cultural Quarter

Another major milestone in the development of the Swords Cultural Quarter was reached today with the appointment of Duggan Brothers (Contractors) Ltd as the building contractor for the construction of the new Cultural Centre and residential developments at Seatown Road, Swords.

With the exhibition AN COMÓRTAS (The Contest) by John Byrne Sunday April 28th, 2024 2pm–4pm (Invite only) and open to the public to view from May 1, 2024 – June 1, 2024 on Wednesdays, Fridays & Saturdays from 10am – 5pm (closed from 1–2pm).

The Carnegie Free Library in Swords, originally established in 1908 and recognised as a Protected Structure, will now function as a dynamic centre for community and arts-related activities.

A major milestone in the Swords Cultural Project has been reached with the publishing of the tender for the iconic building which will include a county library, theatre, gallery, arts spaces, a maker space, and a café.

Contractors moved on site this week to commence enabling works for the new Civic and Cultural Centre in Swords which, when built, will deliver a new library, theatre, gallery and arts spaces for the town.

One of Ireland’s top artists is looking for volunteers from across Fingal to participate in making an iconic artwork which will be permanently displayed in a prominent site within the Swords Cultural Quarter.

Fingal County Council continues to drive forward with its flagship Swords Cultural Quarter project with significant preparatory work taking place this week which will ultimately form part of a new civic plaza set against the backdrop of Swords Castle.

Fingal County Council is to seek to appoint a project management services team to oversee the delivery of projects within the multi-million euro Swords Cultural Quarter (SCQ) development.
