Swimmers, dippers and other water users are being invited to share their views as part of this year’s process to identify designated bathing areas across Fingal.

From sea swims along the coast to dips in rivers and lakes, swimming is an important part of life in Ireland. Each year, local authorities are required to identify bathing waters so they can be properly monitored and managed. These designated locations are assessed for water quality, public usage, and safety, helping to ensure they remain suitable for swimming.

Due to an Uisce Éireann Irish Water sewage emergency overflow at Malahide Beach, a Prohibition  “Do Not Swim” notice  has been put in place with immediate effect and will remain in place for 5 days. 

An Inclusive watersports camp for children with additional needs is returning to Howth this summer, with participations numbers doubling since the programme first launched three years ago.

Fingal County Council is delighted to announce the return of its flagship summer event, Flavours of Fingal, taking place on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th July 2026, from 11am to 6pm at Newbridge House and Farm in Donabate.

Fingal County Council has officially opened a new playground at Laurel Lodge Green, providing a much-anticipated recreational facility for the Castleknock community.

The Vodafone Foundation, through its Hi Digital programme, has partnered with Fingal Libraries to make digital skills training more accessible to older people by introducing a tablet loan scheme in Blanchardstown Library, Rush Library, and Baldoyle Library. 

The 9 identified beaches; Balbriggan Front Strand, Skerries South Beach, Loughshinny, Rush North, Rush South, Portrane the Brook, Donabate Balcarrick, Portmarnock Velvet Strand and Claremont Beaches recorded excellent results from the  bathing water quality samples taken on 02.06.2026.Burrow Beach recorded GOOD result and will be resample tomorrow.

The non-identified bathing water at Malahide (permanent red flag) also met the standard of “excellent” water quality.
